PERSONA 4 ARENA ONLINE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT 1

After some trash talk from the Californian residents on the site, I have decided I will be hosting this tournament at some point during the Summer, preferably one month after P4A is out in the US.
So be sure to get as much practice in because the date won't be extended because you skipped a few training sessions!

Every forum member residing in a state from the Atlantic North to the Pacific West are eligible.
First and foremost I would like to acknowledge that I do know that a lot of factors can cause the connection of online matches to be terrible; from bad netcode, to flat out bad internet connections. Therefore if you have a bad internet connection, I would recommend you upgrade sometime soon if you wish to participate in this tournament. If this section didn't make it clear enough THIS IS AN ONLINE TOURNAMENT!

As of now Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are allowed in this tournament to fit the competitors situation. I'm not going to urge anyone to go buy a new console but I do expect you to have the game you're participating in.

The tournament will be streamed by Coopa.

Sign up. This step is very simple, just post that you would like to participate and state which region you represent/console(s) you will be playing on and I will add the information to the relevant section. Please post your Playstation Network ID and or Gamertag as well.

Brackets will be posted on Challonge and results will be posted on Mayonakamidnight.

Important Information

How the tournament will function:
1) Players who are in the tournament will wait in the Stream Chat, and the first 3 matches X vs Y, A vs B, and C vs D should be in the lobby awaiting their turns.
2) Matches are 2/3 double elimination. Winner must stick with the same character. Loser may choose to change their character.
3) A vs B play their first match. A wins the first match. -> Players in the lobby must skip their turn (assuming there is a skip feature) so that A vs B can play again. If A wins, Players A and B leave the lobby. Players X vs Y then play. If Player B wins, players must skip their turn so A and B may finish their final match.
4) This continues until the lobby is empty, then the next matches and participants are called up from the chat and put into the lobby, then process continues so on and so forth until the tournament is finished and a winner is declared for the P4A Online Regional Championship.

Additional Information

This is a battle for the title of "Best Region" (and then some). That means that the participants under your region's section is your "teammate". So as long as someone from your region wins, you win the title. I have divided the participants into a specific region so no one faces anyone from their respective region in the first round. Meaning, you very well may end up facing someone from your region in the losers brackets or even in the winners finals.
Two separate tournaments will be held. One for PS3 users and one for Xbox 360 users.
As of now the tournament is double elimination, if we hit the 60 range then it will be single elimination.

Official Tournament Rules

- If you aren't in the Lobby when your match is upcoming, you will be disqualified from the tournament and your opponent will advance in the winners bracket.
- If you play on an unreliable bad connection that causes lag during your match, you will be disqualified from the tournament.
- If you ragequit or your connection drops at any time during your match, you will be disqualified from the tournament.

Update 1 (4/6/12): After realizing that many states have very little activity on the forum I have changed it to a battle for best region instead.

Update 5 (4/7/12): !PLEASE READ! HUGE UPDATE: After doing a lot of reconsidering, the tournament is now P4A ONLY. The reason in changing this is because I realize not everyone may have the games listed and pretty much everyone who signs up for the site is going to get P4A, so hopefully more people will apply over time.

Update 6 (4/7/12): Tournament has once again been turned on it's head. Huge changes; Official Rules added, Prize section added, updated information on how the tournament will function.

I added so many because I want the last 4 to be as unbiased as possible! Therefore if we end up with 4 air dashers then we end up with 4 air dashers, if we end up with 4 Capcoms then we end up with 4 Capcoms (god forbid that happens).

edit 1: as of now the only game you're signed up for is Marvel because the other ones aren't determined yet lol

Although imo, I would think everyone would choose their favorite game or P4A. So I guess majority simply rules? Seems quite difficult to manage, but lets see how this goes! It would be funny if a certain game is chosen but one region's people don't play the game at all! xD

I'll figure out how brackets will work once we get more people signed up and the final games are added. I'll probably make a two game minimum limit for everyone who signs up. We'll see how this all plays out though, we still have a long time before everything gets started and Summer is definitely the best time since pretty much everyone will be on some sort of break.

As of this post I want people to only post in this thread if they are signing up in order to avoid a lot of irrelevant rambling. I will make a discussion thread in another section.
