Thats the autocombo there. Yeah its mashable though most people don't wanna abuse that since its predictable and also have a bad proration on damage.
The ONLY purpose IMO for autocombo is that the first three normals of the autocombo (which is 5A>5A>5A) are 'exclusive' to auto combo only. The 4th and 5th autocombo uses specials and supers. Some combos need the auto combo, since the normals have different properties, for example:
Naoto 5A>5A>5A>Hamaon - the reason because that the third 5A makes Naoto kick her enemy, thus allow her to combo into Hamaon.
There is another reason to use auto combo: the third hit of every character's autocombo builds a staggering amount of meter (about 20) and fills your burst gauge by a large amount as well.
