This match-up(from the looks of gameplay thus far) seems to be somewhat difficult for Naoto. Mitsuru has enough at her disposal to be a constant threat. Playing the distance game seems to work somewhat, but that doesn't make it a safe bet.

I have a lot of trouble with Mitsuru no matter what level of play I'm at. Her poke range just drives me absolutely batty. Most of the time my tactic is usually trying to keep distance with D megidos so she cant coup de grace across the stage at me but that only lasts so long before she starts to J.b them making all of the work null. Anyone have any tips on how to get around her?

The key to winning this matchup, or any of Naoto's matchups in general is movement. Naoto is a pretty fast character and can use her movement to stay out of her opponent's range, because let's be honest here, she has pretty bad normals compared to the rest of the cast. Now when I say "bad normals" I meant bad in the sense that they're bad in the sense that she can get outpoked most of the time, which is why it's best if you use them in tandem with traps.

Now going back to the discussion in movement, notice how Denpa (best Naoto in Japan so far) varies his movement against the Mitsurus by mixup up his pattern by laying traps at different times, heights, etc. when tries to outmaneuver Mitsuru. Also notice how he doesn't "commit" to offense most of the time and maintains the space he's established.

Not the best explanation but hope this helps.

Alrighty I'll try to keep to a more defensive tactic with Naoto. Usually when I'm playing I keep to a more rushing in style of fighting..which probably isn't helping my case in the first place. I do understand what you mean, though. Thanks for the help. I cant wait to see all these MU threads filled in. Theres a lot of characters on the board that I still have tons of trouble with and I dont see Much naoto love 'round.
