Unless there's going to be a patch when the game comes out to console, I expect this matchup to be pretty difficult. Does anyone have a clue on how it's supposed to be played? Just from guessing, it looks like Aigis supplements her approaches with her gun specials, but I don't see how her normals can compete with Mitsuru, especially once she gets in.
Believe it or not but this is pretty much Mitsuru's worst match up. An Aigis really shouldn't be going in on a Mitsuru too much because of the reason you've already said.
Mitsuru normals > Everyone elses in the game
Aigis herself has very subpar normals compared to the rest of the class. So in this matchup I can see them using their gun normals/specials a lot to keep Mitsuru at bay. There not much she can do about that except take it or try to maneuver around it (which Aigis can intercept). the only surefire way a Mitsuru can pin down Aigis is her SB Bufula, which takes 25 meter everytime its used. The other versions of Bufula are entirely unsafe and Aigis can simply shoot and break them with ease.
but because her bullets are limited I suggest you dont get carried away. With no bullets you'll be at a serious disadvantage to Mitsuru greatly.
If you DO choose to get close to her and try to Orgia Mixup, she can just Moonlight you easily scoring a CH and going into Bufudyne. Which is about 2.5k.
Either way, this matchup is not in Mitsuru's favor
What about Aigis' counters? Seems like a useful tool against Mitsuru's pokes.
Really? I had no idea. Thanks for the info, so this is going to be a zoning matchup for Aigis, and then you bait out specials from Mitsuru. I have a question: Mitsuru's reversal dp, how punishable is it? I remember seeing Kaqn failing to punish it several times (one Mitsuru player would Dp on block, then go into super. Kaqn would try to punish and get hit by the super). Another question is about Aigis's counters (using Athena). Can those legitimately bait our Mitsuru's wakeup options?
For example: Aigis does a combo, and ends it with Athena counter, then presses a button. Mitsuru does wakeup DP. Does the counter absorb the dp and let Aigis attack mitsuru?
In general, Mitsuru's DP seems like the least punishable in the game. Just try and read if they will do it and block.
At neutral, from what I've seen, the best strategy is keep her far away and keep Athena out. However, send out bullets via 2B/Vulcan Gun mid to late of her animation to cover her cooldown.
I don't remember very well, but I think I saw Mitsuru DP both Aigis and Athena Counter at the same time. The attack doesn't get absorbed by Athena and still hit Aigis. Don't quote me on this. Haven't watched enough play with Athena in use.
-Not just some little bird's game.
I believe Athena does get hit by DPs.
Adding info:
Well Mitsuru is hard to deal with. Her basic combos are too fast and hardly leave a gap to counter, whitout mention his DP. That aside from being fast, it too safe for her to use. Well keeping distance and zoning is kind of annoying since her Artemisia can bring you up if you get caught, using Athena`s shield is a good choice to prevent it and have a chance to get close.
Well, i cant share some experiences since im more a melee Aigis (of course i zoning in some cases) but i couldnt find a good way to get off her basic combo pressure whitout the Counter Attack, that aside she get at good range for a throw after each Coup Droit if she is close enough. So keeping an eye for a throw after that isnt a bad idea, after that, you can counter most of her hits (except from Getsu-ei) whit Meggido, but since you will get hit, i recommend using Meggido (D) at close range and Meggido (C) at long range.
Well thats all i can share till i learn more. Hope this is useful.
If you put out Athena on oki to try and bait a DP it'll work as long as you block the DP. Athena will not completely absorb the hit and like all persona actions, if you get hit during them you will lose a card and the persona (Athena in this case) will disappear.
there is a diference between Athena(C) and Athena(D). The first case is the classic one but is easy to block, but in the second case, the reaction is faster and overhead, as well good enough for a combo.
