    Asking about "Region Lock" thing

I have a question regarding Region Lock of P4U. My problem is how this so-called Region Lock works? I mean, when I read the announcement, at first I understood that the game won't function at all (game won't start) if disc and console region are not match. But someone recently tell me that the game will function even the region didn't match but you have to use PSN that match with the disc. So, what I need now is a clear explanation how this "Region Lock" works. And what I should do (I'd like to avoid buying region 2 game if possible cause it cost way too much)
    Thank you you every answer

PS. I own Tales of Xillia X Edition PS3 console, which is native Japanese PS3, so its region is 2.

If it's region locked like how they said (and how all games are normally region locked) it's based on the console.

If it's the same as PS2 game regions, there should only be 3, one for US one for EU and one for Asia/JP so yeah if that's the case, you should be able to use R3 games which is cheaper than the US version.

I doubt a jp ps3 is game region 2 ? edit: ok jp games are also r2 on ps3
I'm pretty sure EU(PAL) is game region 2 and region locked jp games (eg p4u) dont work with it.

If you really have a ntsc-j ps3 you need to buy the jp (maybe asian) version of the game. US/EU version wont work with it.
And no changing you psn account wont work eg us console using a jp psn account to play jp p4u wont work.
Or in your case using an US/EU psn account with your jp console you still wont be able to start the game if its the US/EU version.

From what I've seen on Google about your Tales of Xillia PS3, it is as you say a Japanese PS3. So for a region-locked game like Persona 4: Arena, you will need to purchase the Japanese version of the game in order to play it on that PS3.

However, according to Atlus, the online gameplay is still global, meaning you can still fight people from other regions. It's just that the entire game itself must be the Japanese version to be played on your Japanese PS3.

I would also assume this means you should not buy the US/EU versions of the game, as they won't work. Also, I'm super jealous of you because this means you can purchase your copy now while I have to wait for August 7th =(
