I love MLG since my passion for eSports started with Brood Wars. It was pretty upsetting to see what happened with Capcom and KoF13, and how the FGC in general treated the situation as well. First things first, get P4U in, of course.

But if/when it does happen, let us not make the same mistake! Despite what some other FGC members think, the MLG guys are good people!

so yeah. don't count them out.
It goes even further than scene too, lol. They started calling themselves the 'Rokrew' and follow me with whatever games I play now. It's pretty gdlk.

But yeah most people aren't total shitheads and can be reasoned with--- and the people who are shitheads aren't worth bothering for, but even then anime has its fair share of these kinds of people too.
Yeah, my avatar pretty much describes my face reading this forum

I haven't read the thread but I'm just gunna say some general stuff. P4A does have a chance to make it to MLG, if it does, just go to the events and support it. Shitting on another group of players don't do shit, except cause some stupid retarded baby wars of slinging crap around like dumbasses. Reason why a lot of people are skeptical with p4a is because people assume a lot of the playerbase will be the same as the bb guys who pretty much dropped the ball with their game harder than kof 13 guys for mlg. It's really pathetic and sad that pretty much every bb tourney in the us got outnumbered by every melty tourney that was at the same tourney (p.s. melty doesn't have a domestic release, and has no support from the devs at all.) If you guys really want to show that p4a is going to have a scene, show up to tourneys, keep showing up to those tourneys with big names and prove by that you guys have the audacity and will to support it. A petition isn't going to do crap honestly, mlg is probably weary enough with kof 13 having really bad numbers, and they don't want a repeat. Worry about a petition AFTER you show that you have the real physical numbers from events to back it up. Like I said earlier, logically mlg is going to look at BB numbers, since its the closest game to p4a and base stuff off that.

A silly question I'm about to throw out.
Do you think persona constantly appearing in events with nothing but a range of niche games somewhat devalues the look of persona to an outsiders eyes?

I am really glad to see the amount of discussion here on the topic. It definately gives me the impression i'm fighting the good fight. I wasn't able to read all 16 pages but I did go through as much as I can. I wanted to address a few things I did notice since I think they are really important to the decision all of you have to make when Persona comes to MLG.

    1. FGC or MLG That is the question... I realize a lot of people are conflicted by this development and I feel it should really only apply to people that play Persona or any of the MLG titles as a secondary game. If Persona is your main game I think that supporting grassroots will only do that. Support the event you are going to and the people that are streaming it. It isn't helping your game at all since history shows no matter how much support gets thrown at most major events the games that are not the most popular get kicked to the curb. There are people that might argue that MLG does the same exact thing (KOF, SCV) The reality is that our support is based on interest just like anything else. If KOF players would have maxed our 128 man bracket every event you better believe it would still be on the circuit. Saying "max out" is a stretch since MK has a very strong presence and usually have between 60-80 players per event which I feel with any game is totally doable with a little effort on the communities part. I have been a part of and attending grassroots events for a very long time and I can tell you there the only difference between MLG and FGC is the amount of money being paid out and a few rules of engagement.

    2. Continuation Rule- I realize how many people hate this rule, and I can't say I'm a big fan of it myself. With that said there is something that I feel a lot of people do not take into consideration when they look at what MLG is which is an actual League. Not some fraud defacto league like "The Road to Evo" Which essentially uses other community events to supplement their own rankings without taking the responsibilty of Wizard and the cannons running their own league. I know I sound like I am attacking them but i'm not. It's simply the reality of the situation. MLG as a league is just like NBA, NFL, and MLB so you have to take a step back and think who goes from College basketball to NBA and complains about where the 3 point line is? or how long the shot clock is? Yea exactly. I am doing my best to come off informative but I think sometimes brutal honesty is the best for situations like this. If you consider yourself a great player or someone that is aspiring to be a great player it only makes sense to compete to the best of your ability and for the highest reward for your skill. As much as it pains me to say it the only reason I go to FGC events is to hang out with my friends because I don't see the need to compete in events that I feel could be better geared towards actually building up the players and not the events. MLG does build it's players and wants to see them grow into a professional space where it could be their career. Just for the sake of argument I am trying to have the continuation rule changed and if not at least modified to better suit fighting games.

I am doing my best to get Persona 4 at MLG Dallas on NOV 2-4 and I hope that when the chips are down everyone in the fighting game community makes a decision that actually benifits them for once and not some faux community ideology that isn't really a community at all. It's more like highschool with the cool kids, nerds, jocks, and outcasts. There are a lot of us that like this game including myself and there should be no reason why if given the opportunity we shouldn't shine like everyone else even if we have to build that shine somewhere else. Ask MK players how they feel about MLG there is a reason it's growing and the players keep coming back and trust me it's not about the money. Thanks for your time and I hope to see you all in Dallas.

p.s please feel free to shoot me any questions you might have. I have no problem answering them thanks.

Man, it'd be great to see p4a at mlg. I've competed in Mk at mlg Colombus and it is a sight to behold when you are actually there.
