Ok, now about difficulty. I had a MUUUUCH more harder time trying to beat Shadow Kanji and Mitsuo than Natural Dancer or that damned Table, even though P4 offers total party control.
The reason is that P4 compensates that, party control, by introducing unique/enemy-only skills... which are extremely cheap in some cases.

Gotta disagree when someone says that P4 requires less skill because of the lack of enemy luck.

P3 has Armageddon+Victory Cry, which basically breaks the game lol

Yo that table was way harder than Shadow Kanji and Mitsuo was SUPER easy with Black Frost... Dude that Table.. THAT F****** TABLE! Don't even get me started. P4 is a breeze as long you are at an even level as the boss you are facing, in P3 you wanna be like 10 levels above the boss or you're fu*ked.

In my opinion P3 FES was harder, for the most part my party did exactly what I wanted them to do, but there were some times in which I wanted to strangle them. The prime example I got Nyx down to extremely low HP, bam get hit with night queen M.C. gets charmed, the party does nothing to remove that charm status then M.C. heals all of Nyx avatar’s H.P. it was a very long boss battle.
Being this fabulous can be tough at times but for you mongrels I’ll continue to be fabulous.

P4 all the way. I didn't care for the majority of the cast and social links in P3, Minato felt like he was just kind of... there, unlike Yu who actually had a personality and strong bonds with everyone. Dungeons weren't spectacular in both games, but climbing Tartarus was just tedious and felt like a chore. Being able to control other characters in P4 made battles much more enjoyable - at least give me proper strategy customization if I can't control them by myself. P3 did have a better ending though. I didn't like how Adachi was overshadowed by Ameno-Sagiri and the "foreshadowing" for the true ending boss was just ridiculous.

Oh and P3 also had Fuuka.

Stuff I thought was better in P3: story, atmosphere, music (only slightly), difficulty (a constantly increasing curve is preferable to being really hard at first then dropping down the challenge after a couple bosses), pacing

Stuff I thought better in P4: characters, slinks, more stuff to do

Despite my P3 list being longer, I like P4 more.

Yeah, that's about the long and short of where I am. Agree with basically everything in here.

And on the subject of AI controlled party members, P3 had its difficult moments sure, but I don't like it when a game is made more difficult by hamstringing the player. I remember plenty of hard moments in P4, too, such as Kanji, Mitsuo, and Kunino-Sagiri (admittedly, I was probably just terrible at the game during my first playthrough). I was never able to craft as intricate a strategy in 3, because I could never rely on my teammates to do their jobs. For instance, in my most recent playthrough, Mitsuru is constantly wasting turns mind charging, even in random battles where it's entirely unnecessary, or characters wasting HP restoring items when the next character in line could easily heal using magic. In P4 I could at least ensure that all party members are firing on all cylinders.

    P3 is much better!

P4 characters are not like real people at ALL, they are just weird anime archetype characters, and are far too extreme to be real people.

P3 characters felt like real people, they didn't act like the world revolved around the MC, they had relationships with each other. When you got to know the P3 characters they developed, unlike the P4 characters that were pretty shallow...

The story and tone of P3 is much more mature and serious, with the stakes being much higher. P4 was about solving a town's murder mystery, while P3 was about saving the world!

Dunno I just felt like in P3 it was cool being part of this secret society, not a gang of kids playing games like in P4.

As a game that you play, maybe P4 is better, but in a way P3 is even better in that respect as the story and setting of P3 made me want to play on, while P4 was always about saving someone in the TV. P4 did get better near the end with the plot twists and kidnapping of more interesting characters.
Play Third Strike, its a good game.

Mitsuru, Akihiko, Ken, Aigis, Chihiro and Chidori are all anime stereotypes in one way or another. I can't imagine I will ever meet anyone like those characters. Especially Aigis, who is a robot. I know people who are very much like Yosuke and Chie, however.

P3 was about saving the world after you doomed it to destruction. To begin with it was about saving the place where the characters live, just like P4.

You cannot tell me that the actions of Aigis in The Journey and the rest of SEES (Yukari in particular) in The Answer aren't them acting like the world revolves around the MC.

I'm... not quite sure what you're trying to say here. A game being more serious doesn't automatically mean it's better, neither does the magnitude of what's at stake - otherwise all games would be about the fate of the universe or whatever. Not to mention that the last sentence simply isn't true; in P3, you start off protecting the vicinity and end up saving the world while in P4 you're trying to solve a murder mystery and also end up saving the world (you know, because humans were supposed to be turned into shadows and stuff).

    Another thing about P3.

It was more badass leading up to the final boss. You knew you were gonna punch out Cthulhu soon and You were scared deep down that you would never beat Nyx.

Izanami just kinda appeared at the last minute with no hype.
