Me either. lol. I actually live in GA (for school), and have never once played any offline games with anyone in this state.

It's sad because the only time I get to play people offline is whenever I come back to visit NC.... and now I'm even making a drive to FL to play games with some of them. lol.

It's like unless you live within an hour of Atlanta, there's like no one to play games with. :(

i think they only play SF4 and Marvel though

I'm sure there are. I meant in Savannah. I don't think this place even has SF4 / MvC3 players. not that I'd really want to play anyway, but still... :P

Anywhere not close to ATL sucks for fighting games...that needs to change. Not sure how though. Georgia in general is a pretty basic place unfortunately, so it's kinda inconvenient to find people to play fighting games with. And if you don't play SF4/Marvel/Tekken then it's doubly inconvenient.

I stay in Carrollton for school (40 minutes from ATL). And Macon is my hometown (an hour and some change from ATL). Are any of you guys in the Georgia Fighting Game Community group on facebook? It's a pretty good place to network for fighting games..here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/groups/164898150234339/

I play Melty Blood and Skullgirls btw. And I really want to see P4A take off here. In Georgia and the States in general. So we need to get active yall. Don't want to see this game ignored.

7thFonon
05-09-2012, 06:14 AM
Yeah. lol. I've been here in GA for over 5 months.... and since then, the only times I've played people (offline) in FG's were when I went to Florida, Raleigh and Charollotte NC. That's just how dead eastern GA is in terms of fighting games. :V

Amaterasu
05-09-2012, 07:19 PM
Hmm I didn't know there was a group around here. I'll look into that. But yeah if you don't play SF or Marvel then you're pretty much suck around here. I'm mainly into Blazblue, Melty Blood, and hoping that P4A takes off.

I think everyone is in agreement that there are plenty of players in GA.... just not Eastern GA. Even players from Georgia tell me there isn't anyone in my area for the games I wanna play (AH3 and MBAACC)...

Closest person to me is (JusTbLazeItup) 2 1/2 hours away in Augusta.....and that's only if I feel like playing Tekken . And I remember him complaining that there's no one in Augusta to play with (in Tekken). -___-

lol I like the thread title, very appropriate

I know Battle and Brew (www.battleandbrew.com) used to host weekly fighting game tournaments for Capcom games and MK9. It's located in Marietta. Who knows maybe if they got enough support for this game they could add it into their rotation.

There's also a facebook group for fighting game players in Savannah(I'm not from Savannah) but you can kinda just use it for GA players in general. http://www.facebook.com/groups/360111512660/

If anyone plays on XBL, feel free to add me. I'm currently playing random single player games and occasionally MK9 and SF4. I have BBCS as well. I hop on and do trials to get used to the aksys style in preparation for this game. Never bought any later versions due to how unpopular BB became. GT in sig.

Count me in as another Georgia guy who will be playing this game. Not on Facebook but I do have a Twitter: http://twitter.com/jiikae

The closer we get to release date the more I hope I have that this game will have a pretty healthy community. Hearing alot of people saying they want to give it a try, even non-anime fighting game players.

Hi everyone! I recognize quite a few of you from here and there so it's hard to feel like a stranger.

But for those of you who don't know me:

I'm Jeff. I like fighting games, burritos, anime, and taking it easy. I live in Marietta right now, and I play KoF13, Melty Blood, Vampire Savior, Immaterial and Missing Power, Eternal Fighter Zero, etc etc etc.

Stopping in to let everyone know that I plan on hosting a tournament for P4U shortly after it drops along with Melty Blood:

Wow I'm kinda late to this thread but I live in Columbus Georgia.

I only know probably 3 people here that would actually play this game if I showed it to them other than that I don't know anyone who's into anime-style fighters here. When I was in Columbia South Carolina I knew tons of people who played the same games as me and I would always import Japanese game and tell them about it. They'd always come over and play games, I really do miss those days...it was kinda the same when I lived South Korea too they were all diverse gamers like me lol.

Just a heads up, most of the good anime players (Ivysaur, Eshi, ZomB) in Georgia don't post here. We do however, have a Facebook group for ArcSys games here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/343167709045450/ Eshi's the only mod for the group so it might take a day to get accepted.

For anyone near the Atlanta area, starting on August 25th, there will be weekly gatherings on Friday nights at Georgia Tech in the Klaus building. I'll have a Persona/BB setup there every week. There's also a small group of Columbus people who play who I could help people get in contact with. They sometimes carpool to Atlanta for gatherings and tournaments.

A.R.K. V is about a month away and we'd love to see all you guys there! We're expecting about 200 people from ~10 different states (including confirmed attendance from Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kansas, Louisiana, California, and Oklahoma) and are throwing in at least $1400 in bonus pots (including $200 to Persona 4 Arena) to support some of our games. It will be on August 25th/26th in Jacksonville, AR with games such as Persona 4 Arena, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, Soul Calibur V, Super Street Fighter IV: AE, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, King of Fighters XIII, Street Fighter X Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, and SkullGirls.

For more information, visit the official thread here (http://mayonakamidnight.com/showthread.php?1542-Aug-25-26-2012-ARK-V!-1400-Bonus-Pots!-Feat.-(Jacksonville-AR)), the Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/231556636951952/) or holler at me. For anyone who wants to come, I heavily encourage you to preregister online at www.arktourney.com/registration before August 18th to save money on venue fee.

Guess I'll start not posting here too like on DL.
Also I remember a post in the FB group about recording matches, I got an HD PVR recently but it only has component output, so the issue would be finding a lagless setup to work with it.

TheGreatReptar
08-03-2012, 09:38 AM
Couldn't you get an HDMI splitter, then send the second HDMI to an HDMI>component converter? Mo' money mo' problems though =X

kazzmat
08-03-2012, 09:43 AM
Mo' money, Mo' problems indeed.
I've played a few games off of it on the original tv I brought to tech, the one that had a good 5-10 frame lag issue, without many problems. I haven't tried any fighters on it yet but I haven't felt any real lag issues with it so far.

I don't know if it makes a difference but its a Haupauge
http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-1212-Definition-Personal-Recorder/dp/B0018LX0DY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1343986803&sr=8-2&keywords=hauppauge+hd+pvr

TheGreatReptar
08-03-2012, 10:03 AM
I've actually got all the software for one of those on my laptop already from Paul. He always had a converter though.

I dunno what exactly Paul uses, or what would be like the cheapest thing that would work without lag. I would think just any splitter and converter combo would work, but there's that HDCP stuff I don't understand, and some converters and splitters can introduce lag I think.

Basically, ask Paul if you really want to record stuff. Hopefully P4U will get some stream time once Friday nights start up again though, so we can pull recordings from there. Dunno if there's anything else you'd want to record though.

Also, fuck Lambda's trial #15 in Extend. I probably spent like 3 hours on that combo over the course of the past month. I dropped the ending super like 6 times before I finally got it...

kazzmat
08-03-2012, 10:18 AM
I actually just did a test record, and I didn't feel any lag. I'll just bring the setup when gatherings start again and let you guys be the judges though.

And that super is so easy to land now, the timing in CS2 was ridiculous in comparison.

TheGreatReptar
08-03-2012, 10:52 AM
Man, after everything else that stupid challenge makes you do, it should have just ended in crescent saber. Fucking dash 5B link, TK crescent into 2D, landing all 8 hits of 5C (I dropped the stupid thing so many times from the dummy bouncing off one hit, causing the next to miss so I only had 7 total =\), and doing the dash 4B out of the corner (which is hard to do if the opponent isn't high enough after 5C mash, but if they're too high from 5C mash, they bounce)...Meh. The super shouldn't have been an issue. Figured out you don't need to hold down to get the followup j.2DD, so I could do the super faster.

I've spent way too much fucking time in challenge mode for characters I'm never going to touch again. Although doing Rachel's trials has go me interested in her now. Lvl 2 j.2C combos actually aren't hard at all if you aren't doing them off 6A>5B. That confirm's just really wacky. It's actually quite easy off of throw and 5B>3CD>8D>5B. Working on it off of 2C now. Timing the wind's tricky =X Rachel's combo theory stuff is pretty simple to grasp too, since most of her shit causes insane amounts of untech time. You can mostly do the same combos, just have to drop the ender 1 or 2 hits early sometimes.

FunkyP
08-04-2012, 05:48 PM
The Component output on the PVR lags, I run the hdmi signal into an HDMI split to eliminate any lag first then it goes into an hdmi to component converter that strips HDCP, then component to HD PVR.

edit: The lag isnt noticeable, if you wanted to play on a monitor and record best bet would run the component out to a component to VGA converter. This is really cheap and the converter would not add any additional lag.

Hey guys, for anyone near ATL, fall semester is almost here, and regular Friday night casuals at Georgia Tech will be happening again. August 24th will be the first Friday of the new semester, so there should be a fairly large turnout of people.

Location:
Georgia Tech
Christopher W. Klaus Advanced Computing Building
266 Ferst Drive; Atlanta, GA, 30332
Room # 1447 (unless otherwise noted)

Time: Roughly 8:00PM until the wee hours of the morning.

Do note, that the building is locked after 8pm. You can either arrive before 8 and just chill for a while, hope that someone from the church thing going on in the building at that time lets you in, or just PM me and I can give you my phone number so I can let you in when you get there. Bring setups for any fighting games you like, as the classroom has power outlets about every 5 feet on the tables. Generally there's SSFIV, KoF13, Marvel, BB, occasionally Melty Blood and of course there will be P4U.

And here's a quick map of where the building is on campus (the rooms are in small Klaus) and where everyone usually parks:
